There has been a lot of buzz recently about changes in transportation in greater Pittsburgh. The downtown to Oakland BRT project is advancing; the autonomous vehicle industry is rapidly expanding; new multimodal connections and bike trails have received funding; and innovative technologies are being deployed to reduce congestion on our roadways. Meanwhile, we’ve seen community leaders across the region seeking more mobility connections for their communities, and PennDOT, the Port Authority of Allegheny County, and the City of Pittsburgh all have new leadership focused on delivering new ideas and new partnerships. Our region is aspiring to something more, and we can feel the potential.
Despite this progress, there is a growing sense of urgency to advance a vision for our transportation future. So what’s holding us back? And what can we, collectively, do about it?
Be part of what comes next. Join local and national thought leaders as we dive into what we as a region must do to capture the opportunities of new technologies, proactively coordinate our transit and multimodal assets, and pursue the funding needed to make investments that can help us be a competitive and attractive region for years to come.
