As CEO, Dan Bartholomay is working to promote livability and leading efforts to expand the organization’s capacity and impact.
Prior to joining Rail~Volution, Dan played leadership roles in the public, non-profit and philanthropic sectors. From his earliest work in the neighborhoods of Chicago and St. Paul, he’s approached community development from a multidisciplinary perspective. As a Program Director with the McKnight Foundation, he developed and implemented an interdisciplinary program spanning affordable housing, community development, transit, open space preservation, and regional growth with a focus on livability and access. He also fostered collaborations within and across sectors that resulted in national models, including the Equitable Development Organizing Project, the Itasca Project, and the Central Corridor Funders Collaborative. In addition, he did international grant making in Southeast Asia and Africa.
Most recently, he was Commissioner of the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency where he focused the agency on continuous improvement, cross-sector partnership, and investing in housing projects that leverage community impacts. He holds an interdisciplinary B.A. from Carleton College, in Economics, Anthropology, and Political Science. Dan enjoys spending time with his family, biking and cross-country skiing.
As program manager, Andrea is responsible for leading overall planning and implementation of the annual conference as well as working closely with the CEO to plan and implement Rail~Volution’s new programming. She supports the National Steering Committee members through organizing meetings and the session development process and works closely with the Local Host Committee. She also coordinates the emerging leaders group, the New Rail~Volutionaries, to organize events and networking opportunities.
Prior to joining the Rail~Volution team she was a Branch Coordinator at the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities. She holds a B.S. in Urban and Regional Studies and Non-Profit Management from Minnesota State University, Mankato, MN. Andrea enjoys bike commuting, snow shoeing in the winter and taking care of her huge garden in the summer.
Debra (Deb) Peterson assists the CEO, manages administrative aspects of the Board of Directors and National Steering Committee and oversees technology, databases and operational logistics.
Prior to joining Rail~Volution, she worked as Office Manager for local nonprofits and as Executive Assistant for several firms across the US. She holds an AS in Library Science from Nebraska Wesleyan University. Deb is an accomplished seamstress who enjoys craft of all kinds, travel and time with family.
Hilary Reeves works to expand the audience for Rail~Volution, both for the annual conference and for on-going information-sharing and networking. She also handles all aspects of organizational communications.
Prior to joining Rail~Volution, Hilary worked in regional transportation advocacy with Transit for Livable Communities, including leading communications and messaging for transportation funding campaigns, managing outreach for the Bike Walk Twin Cities federal Nonmotorized Transportation Pilot Program, and managing the Transportation Leadership certification program. She enjoys all the options for getting to work—walking, riding the bus, and bicycling.
